25th Anniversary of BCDX Net
This is to inform with great pleasure that the 25th anniversary of the BC DX Net conducted on Sundays at 8.30 am IST (0300 UTC) on 7085 kHz by Sanil Deep, VU3SIO and friends is to be celebrated on 24th November 2013.
This Net was started on Sunday November 27, 1988 by a small group of Amateurs viz. Shanmughasundaram VU2FOT, Victor Goonetilleke 4S7VK, Jose Jacob VU2JOS and some SWLs to exchange information on broadcasting stations.
All those who check in/send report of the 25th anniversary Net will receive a special QSL. (Sunday 24 Nov 2013, 7085 kHz LSB, 8.30 am IST (0300 UTC)
There will be a feature on BC DX net by Sanil Deep, VU3SIO broadcast in the popular DX program AWR Wavescan through various broadcasting stations in Germany and USA as follows :

Jose Jacob gets Diamond DXCC Award

On 6 Feb 2012 Jose Jacob, VU2JOS qualified for Diamond DXCC Award issued by American Radio Relay League (ARRL) by contacting 100 countries / entities during the calendar year 2012. The award is issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the prestigious DXCC award. One has to make contacts with 100 entities as per the Diamond DXCC list (Countries list as it was in 1937). More details at : http://www.arrl.org/diamond-dxccIt took Jose 37 days to make the contacts. Being a CW enthusiast, he reported that out of 100 entities contacted, as many as 92 of them were in CW and the rest 8 in SSB. In fact till now he has already contacted 111. ARRL has informed that Jose Jacob was first from India to apply for this award.

Jose Jacob,VU2JOS gets "Sea of Peace 2011" award from Germany for 4th time
The SOP is awarded by the DARC local club for contacts with different countries/areas bordering the Baltic Sea and Norway in one year from 1st to 31st of July. He came to know of this award when he visited Baltic area of Germany and has since tried for this award every year successfully.

Jose Jacob, VU2JOSGrandi Island, Goa, India (AS-177) is the new IOTA (Islands on the Air) to be activated from 5th April 2009 to 8th April 2009. The team consists with OM Sara, VU3RSB, OM Frank, DL4KQ/VU3FRK, OM Jose, VU2JOS, YL Yamini, VU2YAM & OM Manju, VU2SMS. The callsign will be AT9RS. Grandi Island is an uninhabited Island and Location is: 14.92N - 15.77N / 73.67E - 74.07E . The setup would be one CW & one SSB Station with Vertical and Dipoles.
