FTIOM & Extended UBMP, February 2 - 8

This week our guest is Dayramir González, who led the opening Gala concert at Jazz Plaza in Havana this year. We talk to him before the rehearsal for that concert, and we will listen to some of his wonderful recordings.

HAM Radio license exam in Assam

Good News for anyone interested in becoming a Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) in Assam. The NIAR Club Station, Guwahati and Guwahati University Amateur Radio Activity Centre are jointly going to arrange ASOC Examination in Assam, tentatively in the month of May/June 2020. The exam will be conducted in Guwahati by WPC wing of Ministry of Communications, Govt. of India. If sufficient candidate apply for the exam from Upper Assam, the organisers may arrange an examination centre in Jorhat also. Interested radio enthusiasts may contact the following persons for  application form and other details. All assistance regarding study materials, mock test will be provided to enrolled candidates and a pre-exam ham radio workshop will also be arranged in Jorhat very shortly.

Special broadcasts by All India Radio for Republic Day 2020

India is celebrating its 71st Republic Day on 26 Jan 2020 (Sunday). All India Radio will broadcast special programs in connection with the Republic Day celebrations as follows:

25th January 2020 (Saturday) : Eve of Republic Day

1330 UTC (1900 IST) onwards Hon'ble President's address to the nation in Hindi and English. This will be broadcast by all stations of AIR on MW, SW, FM. Shortly after this broadcast, the local stations will broadcast its translations in local languages.

India and Bangladesh signs MoU for airtime exchange programme between All India Radio and Bangladesh Betar

India and Bangladesh signed MoU for content/airtime exchange programme between All India Radio and Bangladesh Betar. The MoU was signed in Delhi during the visit of Bangladesh Information Minister Hasan Mahmud to India.The MoU will allow the programmes of Akashwani and Bangladesh Betar to be heard across both the countries.

With today's launch content from AIR Maitree service has started airing in Dhaka and reciprocally content from Bangladesh Betar has started airing on All India Radio in Kolkata and Tripura.   

Bangladesh Betar programmes would be available for listeners in India as per below :

Time : 0730-0930 IST, 1730-1930 IST

Via All India Radio, Kolkata FM Gold Channel on FM 100.1 MHz (20 kW)
