Akashvani North Eastern Service revamps its programmes

Akashvani North Eastern Service, formerly known as All India Radio, North Eastern Service, established in 1990 in Shillong, connects the 8 North Eastern States through diverse programmes. Since its inception, it has fostered harmony among the North Eastern communities through a blend of news, music, and spoken word in various languages and tribes. The programmes are constantly evolving to meet listener demands.

The North Eastern Service will be revamping its programmes starting June 15, 2024, catering to all age groups in the North East with talks, interviews, features, and music. Fixed timings and days have been allotted to programmes for children (every Sunday at 1pm), youth (Wednesdays at 6:45pm), women(Saturdays at 1pm), senior citizens (Mondays at 1:30pm)and labourers (Fridays at 9:30pm). Snippets from NE (daily at 7:30am), Success stories, Start up of the month (4th Saturday of every month)and Listeners feedback (1st Sunday of the month @2:30pm in Hindi and 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8:35am in English) are also being introduced, to engage a wider audience.

Tune in to Akashvani North Eastern Service daily from 6 am to 10:30 pm IST on FM 100.1 MHz, "Newsonair" mobile app, or DTH to be a part of our programmes.

We look forward to any feedback from our listeners and well wishers. Furthermore, we welcome scriptwriters for our spoken word programmes and artists who sing in any language/dialect of the North East including western music. The songs may be modern, folk or devotional etc.

North Eastern Service of All India Radio celebrates 30th anniversary

The North Eastern Service of All India Radio, Shillong completes 30 years of its existence on the 3rd January 2020. Salute to our friends, who were in NES, esteemed listeners, talkers, artistes for being with us all these years through every thick and thin.

All India Radio Kurseong,Port Blair,Mumbai & Shillong shortwave transmitters decommissioned

All India Radio, Kurseong ( West Bengal) 50 kW shortwave transmitter on 4895/7230 KHz has been decommissioned with effect from 7th August , 2019. They are now on FM 103.5 MHz, 10 kW & 102.3 MHz, 5 kW.

Meanwhile the local officials & MP has requested to replace the existing shortwave transmitter with a new 300 kW DRM transmitter .

All India Radio, Port Blair 10 kW shortwave transmitter on 4760/7390 kHz has also been  decommissioned.

All India Radio, Mumbai 100 kW shortwave transmitter carrying external services on 7340, 11935 kHz has also been closed down .

Asll India Radio, Shillong 50 kW shortwave transmitter of North East Service on 4970/7315 kHz has also been decommissioned.

Extension of regional SW transmission of NE Services from AIR Shillong on 4970 kHz

With effect from 15th Dec'16 evening transmission of North East Service on 50 kW regional SW Transmitter of All India Radio, Shillong will be extended on 4970 kHz till 2310 IST (1740 UTC).

Revised schedule :

0025-0400 UTC on 4970 kHz

1056-1740 UTC on 4970 kHz

AIR Shillong holds regional folk and light music festival

excerpt ..... Speaking on the occasion, All India Radio, Shillong Director N Shadap said that the Regional Folk and Light Music Festival was organized by All India Radio, New Delhi in collaboration with All India Radio, Shillong. The day coincides with the Indian Broadcasting Day to commemorate the change of name from Indian State Broadcasting Service to All India Radio way back in 1935. "This festival is being organized in other parts of the country as well," She said.
