Radio leads the way as the most trusted media in Australia and is seen as the most credible source of news, according to a new survey by global research firm GfK.

BBC Bangla TV and radio content reaches 15m people in Bangladesh

BBC Bangla TV and radio content now reaches 15m people in Bangladesh every week, according to the BBC's 2017 Global Audience Measure. This includes 9m people who watch the BBC Bangla weekly television programme, BBC Probaho, and 7m people who tune in to the BBC Bangla radio programmes.

BBC Bangla editor, Sabir Mustafa, comments: "We are thrilled by the progress of BBC Probaho. We will build on its success by expanding the BBC Bangla presence on television - while continuing to deliver a strong and vibrant radio programming and also working to increase our output across digital platforms including social media."

BBC Probaho is broadcast at 9.35pm local time every Thursday by the BBC's rebroadcasting partner, Channel-i. The programme is also available on the BBC Bangla channel on YouTube. Presented by Sharmin Rauma, it delivers 25 minutes of news, interviews and debate on key issues affecting Bangladesh. It reports from across the country, giving people the opportunity to express views and raise concerns on issues that matter to them and demanding answers from key decision-makers. Following the Eid festival break, the programme resumes broadcasts on Thursday 13 July.

BBC Bangla radio programmes, produced in London and Dhaka, air on the state FM network, Bangladesh Betar, as well as on shortwave and via bbcbangla.com.

Over the past year, BBC Bangla has seen a significant increase in web and social-media reach. BBC Bangla engages around 1.4m people around the world every week via its website bbcbangla.com and on social media. The BBC Bangla Facebook page has over 11.3m followers (July 2017), nearly 80% of them in Bangladesh.

An attempt by China to squeeze Radio Taiwan International (RTI, 央廣) out of the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) has failed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Thursday.

Hi, we are still testing our 15 years celebration-transmitter today Tuesday 11th of July. Our power is very limited 5 watts only on 31 meters Free Broadcast Band on frequencies 9270 and/or 9290 kHz. But so we are even more interested of our propagation and quality. Please drop your notes to our e-mails during transmission, please.

So we have plan to start around 1800 UTC /20 Central European Daylight saving Time and will have few short transmissions until morning  hours of Wednesday.

Dieter Schäufler will be appointed as new Chief Executive Officer of the Ampegon Group and Managing Director of Ampegon AG on July 1, 2017. Mr. Schäufler has been with the company for 2 years, successfully managing the day-to-day operation of Ampegon PPT GmbH in Dortmund. In addition to his new function, he will continue to lead the management of Ampegon PPT GmbH.

We wish Mr. Schäufler every success and foresight with a steady hand whilst managing the Ampegon Group.

Two new 100KW digital transmitters to broadcast across the border for Afghanistan- Pakistan region

New Delhi, Jul 6 (IBNS): All India Radio expects to commission two new Shortwave Solid State digital transmitters, of 100 kW power each. for dissemination of content across the border for Afghanistan- Pakistan region by the end of August 2017, announced Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Naidu, said that the transmitters will be installed in Delhi.

The I and B minister also said that for the Andaman and Nicobar, a new 100 W FM transmitter would be installed in Car Nicobar by the end of the financial year.

He also mentioned that to enhance the outreach, the 3KW FM transmitter in Daman would be replaced by 6KW transmitter. Similarly, in Karaikal, Puducherry, the present 6 KW FM transmitter would be replaced by 10 KW FM transmitter to enhance the reach.

BBC's Caversham Park put up for sale amid cuts

The BBC is selling the Grade II-listed Caversham Park estate in Berkshire in an effort to save money on property costs. The Victorian stately home is the base for BBC Monitoring, which has lost nearly half of its staff since 2011. BBC Monitoring summarises news from 150 countries in 100 different languages for the BBC.
