IRRS testing on 11995 kHz Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 0800-0900 UTC

We're thrilled to inform you that we're testing out a new frequency of 11995 kHz on Saturday, April 15, 2023, between 8-9 UTC (10-11 AM Central European Time) to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. We want you to be a part of it! Our regular program from IPAR (International Public Access Radio) featuring Radio City will be on, so don't miss it. Radio City is on the air every third Saturday from 08-09 UTC (summer) on our station.

Our Sunday morning broadcast will still be on 9510 kHz, and you can find our full schedule at https://www.nexus.org/schedules.

IRRS/NEXUS-IBA increases coverage to Ukraine and Russia

Hello There from NEXUS-IBA and IRRS in Milano, Italy!

You have undoubtedly heard the latest news about the Russian invasion of Ukraine today. It has almost continuous coverage on Radio and TV in Europe as of this morning, and it makes everyone worried about the consequences for European stability.

Just in case you hear from someone interested in Russia and Ukraine in these difficult moments, you should know that we have increased our power on 1323 kHz, and we can reach these regions with a fantastic signal also on AM/Medium Wave.

We increased our special news coverage, adding repeats of the most informative and inspirational programs in English from 7 PM to 11 PM Central European Time to support displaced people and cover the latest events.

IRRS announces special SW broadcasts & QSL for corona virus outbreak

While most of Northern Italy has come (nearly) to a halt due to the recent coronavirus outbreak, NEXUS-IBA, IRRS (The Italian and Irish Radio Relay Service) has just extended  global coverage with daily broadcasts to reach out to Europe, the Middle East, Asia/Pacific and Africa with daily news and commentaries on COVID-19 in English.

A new program aired via IRRS-Shortwave is called "War Room Pandemic" and produced in the USA by Steve Bannon, political advisor, media executive, former investment banker and former White House Chief Strategist.

War Room Pandemic presents the latest news and opinions on the effects of the coronavirus around the world.

The future of Shortwave

In our view, there can be no direct replacement of Shortwave as the first line of international broadcasting, especially for most of Africa, some regions in Asia, Pacific and South America and worldwide in case of political or religious instability, regional or widespread conflict and calamities. Even in the most developed countries in North America and Europe shortwave still reaches a niche group of information savvy, culture and news addict people in search of first-hand news and information not available elsewhere. At the same time, we acknowledge that satellites and the Internet do have their place and have become increasingly important somewhere down the road.

New info program on IRRS

Dear Listeners and Friends of IRRS-Shortwave,

It's the time of the year when we are usually summing up our activities, and deciding whether and how to follow up in the next. At the end of the year we will be having our annual board meeting, but I

can anticipate that we will continue broadcasting on Shortwave, focusing even more to far away countries, besides our usual targets in Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

Just before Christmas I would like to inform you of a new, exceptional news program that will be broadcasted effective Dec. 22, 2012 weekly each Saturday at 20:45 CET (19:45 UTC) on 7290 kHz and 1368 kHz Medium Wave. The program is a 15 minute program in French and English specifically created for Shortwave about issues related to Europe and interesting to our European audience. I will not reveal the name just now, just listen and send your reception report directly to the address that you hear on the air. They also QSL directly.

 

Lastly if you have not sent a reception report for our newly started Medium Wave broadcasts, we will sending out a special QSL card for reception reports received ONLY for broadcasts in the following time slots, as heard ONLY until Dec. 31, 2012:

- 20:00-21:00 UTC (21:00-22:00 CET) on 7290 kHz and 1368 kHz MW

- 06:00-07:00 UTC (07:00-08:00 CET) on 1368 kHz MW

IRRS MW 1368 kHz and 1566 kHz improvements

Hello There from IRRS-Shortwave & Mediumwave in Milano, Italy, Just a short note to inform our European listeners that our technicians just made a couple of improvements to the stations in Padova on 1368 kHz and in Rome on 1566 kHz. Transmitter power in Padova was slightly raised to 10 kW while we wait for the power company to deliver a new electricity line to be able to connect a 50 kW transmitter that is in standby. In Rome, we installed a new antenna and transmitter yesterday that double the signal strength as received into the city area and immediate vicinity. After the new installation, a DX report of our broadcasts on 1566 kHz has been received yesterday from Austria (580+ km or 360+ miles), despite of the low power (1 kW) of this station.

We welcome your reception reports on all of our frequencies. We are on the air daily on 1368 and 1566 kHz from 20:00-20:30 CET in Italian and from 20:30-02:00 CET in English.

I also remind you our high power broadcast daily on 15610 kHz from 13:00-14:00 UTC to Middle East, Asia and Australia and Japan. Daily we are also on the air on 7290 to Europe and Africa from 18:00-20:00 UTC.

Special programme from the Arctic Radio Club

According to current information the programme will go out at 1130 UTC (1330 CET) on Sunday, July 24 on 9510 kHz and it will be repeated the following weekend at 0845 UTC (1045 CET) on Saturday, July 30 and at 1130 UTC (1330 CET) on Sunday, July 31.

A 15 minute special programme made by the Arctic Radio Club will be aired by IRRS over a transmitter in Romania on 9510 kHz. The programme has been produced by ARC members Ronny Forslund, a/k/a Ronny B Goode, and Christer Brunström, chairman of the ARC. We are sitting in for Stephen who usually runs his programme 39 Dover Street at this time but as he is moving house he asked us to fill his airtime. Monitoring Medium Wave / AM 1368 in Europe

Today we have made a modification to the Medium Wave antenna on 1368 kHz that may increase sky propagation during the night. Listeners in southern and central Europe should get better reception after sunset effective tonight June 14, 2011. Can anybody monitor out-there in

IRRS Shortwave & Mediumwave update

As of Friday June 10, 2011, European Gospel radio via IRRS-Shortwave will be on the air daily with a live program on 7290 kHz to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from 18:00-20:0 CET.

Our programs can also be heard daily on our new AM/Medium Wave frequencies: on 1368 kHz from Padua (Padova, North East Italy), and locally in Rome on 1566 kHz. We will be broadcasting daily on these Medium Wave frequencies from 17:00-00:00 UTC, i.e. from 19:00-02:00 CET. Reception on 1368 kHz during darkness has been reported within a radius of approximately 700 km from Padua, i.e. in northern Italy, southern France, Austria, Southern Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, and under DX conditions also from Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Following my email yesterday, I apologize but due to technical problems we had to cancel all tests on 5775 kHz at the very last moment.

In the meantime we are announcing these additional tests:

Feb 25, 2011 from 0930-1230 UTC on 9510 kHz to Europe
Feb 28, 2011 from 0930-1230 UTC on 9510 kHz to Europe

Feb 25, 2011 from 1800-2000 UTC on 9435 kHz to Europe
Feb 26, 2011 from 1800-2000 UTC on 9435 kHz to Europe
Feb 27, 2011 from 1800-2000 UTC on 9435 kHz to Europe

We will appreciate your reception reports for all of our tests by email at reports at nexus.org

Our regular broadcasts continue also on AM/Medium Wave daily on 1368 kHz in North/Eastern Italy (covering Padua, Venice, Vicenza, Verona and Bologna) and on 1566 in Rome, daily from 20:00-01:00 Central European Time. (in Vicenza we have a large US military base, and we know that we have many listeners there). These times may be extended later on.

From Thursday Feb. 24 until Saturday Feb. 26, 2011, IRRS-Shortwave will be testing on the frequency of 5775 kHz from 1800-2000 UTC with 300 kW to Central & Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Mediterranean.

We will appreciate receiving your reception reports for these tests by email at reports@nexus.org

I would like also to mention that we are also on the air in English with the call-sign IRRS-ediumwave on 1368 kHz in North/Eastern Italy (covering Padua, Venice, Vicenza, Verona and Bologna) and on 1566 in Rome, daily from 20:00-01:00 Central European Time. As 1368 kHz is quite clear in Europe, our broadcasts may be heard outside of our main coverage area in all neighbouring countries, including Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and up north in the Sweden, Norway and Finland with DX conditions.

IRRS evening frequency change effective Nov. 13, 2010

Hello There from Milan, Italy!

Please notice that effective Nov. 13, 2010, IRRS-Shortwave (the Italian Radio Relay Service) will leave the current frequency of 7290 kHz for our daily evening broadcast from 1900-2000 UTC.

Our new daily frequency from 20:00-21:00 CET (19:00-20:00 UTC, winter) will be 6090 kHz to Europe, North Africa and Middle East. We are making this change to improve reception and avoid interference by other stations in our target area.

There is no other expected changes to our current schedule.
