WRN testing in Russian on 9820 kHz

WRN (World Radio Network) is testing a new shortwave frequency. Rebroadcasting via a transmitter in A'Dhabbaya, United Arab Emirates. Due to interference on 5990 kHz, the World Radio Network, broadcasting in Russian from 17:00 to 20:00 UTC on a new frequency of 9820 kHz starting 18th Nov '25, for a week. 

The test broadcasts will continue until next Sunday or Monday, 24th Nov (1700-2000 UTC). Then, based on reception reports from the target area (Eastern Europe), it will be decided whether to continue on 9820 kHz or return back to 5990 kHz. No QSLs, but feedback is always welcome at feedback2@wrn.ru

Update 27th Nov '25 - Based on the test results, WRN has decided to use the frequency 9820 kHz on regular basis at 1700 - 2000 UTC.

19.00-19.15 EAT: 11550 kHz  (1600-1615 UTC)

19.30-20.00 EAT: 9320 kHz   (1630-1700 UTC)

22.00-22.15 EAT: 9320 kHz      (1900-1915 UTC)

22.30-22.45 EAT: UTC: 11550 kHz     (1930-1945 UTC)

Central African Time (Egypt, Sudan, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa etc) 

18.00-18.15 CAT: 11550 kHz  (1600-1615 UTC)

18.30-19.00 CAT: 9320 kHz   (1630-1700 UTC)

21.00-21.15 CAT: 9320 kHz      (1900-1915 UTC)

21.30-21.45 CAT: 11550 kHz     (1930-1945 UTC)

The purpose of the test transmissions is to find out if signal strength is good enough for coverage in East Africa and possibly other parts of Africa and the Middle East. And if so - what frequency (9320 or 11550 kHz) - is the better.

Isle of Music via Spaceline, Bulgaria - Test Transmission

On Sunday, February 26 at 1500-1600 UTC, Spaceline will be doing a test transmission on 9400 kHz from Kostinbrod, Bulgaria using an episode of From the Isle of Music, a program dedicated to the music of Cuba which is heard weekly on WBCQ and Channel 292.    This transmission will be aimed primarily at Russia and the Ukraine but may be audible in other areas. (From the Isle of Music will continue on WBCQ and Channel 292 for their target areas regardless of the results of this and a subsequent test. )

IRRS-Shortwave tests on 5775 kHz

Dear Listeners and Monitors,

From Thursday Feb. 24 until Saturday Feb. 26, 2011, IRRS-Shortwave will be testing on the frequency of 5775 kHz from 1800-2000 UTC with 300 kW to Central & Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Mediterranean.

We will appreciate receiving your reception reports for these tests by email at reports@nexus.org

I would like also to mention that we are also on the air in English with the call-sign IRRS-ediumwave on 1368 kHz in North/Eastern Italy (covering Padua, Venice, Vicenza, Verona and Bologna) and on 1566 in Rome, daily from 20:00-01:00 Central European Time. As 1368 kHz is quite clear in Europe, our broadcasts may be heard outside of our main coverage area in all neighbouring countries, including Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and up north in the Sweden, Norway and Finland with DX conditions.
