DW drops Bengali & Hindi shortwave txns for winter transmssion schedule

As expected Deutsche Welle has dropped all Bengali & Hindi shortwave transmissions for South Asia for the B10 season effective 31st Oct 2010.
Half an hour Bengali txn can be heard on MW 1548 kHz at 1530-1600 UTC (2100-2130 IST).
Urdu still continues on shortwave at 1430-1500 UTC on 1548, 12065, 15620,17860 kHz for B10 season.

DW cuts Transmission hours for HIndi & Urdu languages, drops morning broadcasts

Deutsche Welle has cut back transmission hours for Hindi & Urdu languages for the forthcoming A10 (Summer) broadcast season to be effective from 28th March 2010.

DW Hindi transmission hours has been cut by half, presently it has two 30 minutes slots at 0130 & 1500 UTC (0700 & 2030 hours IST), the 0130 UTC (0700-0730 IST) transmission will be dropped from next season.

Similarly DW Urdu had three half hour tranmission slots at 0200,1430 & 1700 UTC (0730, 2000 & 2230 IST), out of which transmissions at 0200 & 1700 UTC (0730 & 2230 IST) will be dropped for next season.

There has been cutbacks in transmission hours for Chinese & Russian languages as well & Kisuaheli broadcasts to Africa has been dropped.

According to sources DW plans to reduce/drop most of the shortwave during next one year. After clinching the FM distribution partnership at Bangladesh, DW is working on FM partnership in India.

HINDI
1500-1530 UTC(2030-2100 IST) on 1548,6180,9540,9655 kHz (All via Trincomale)

URDU
1430-1500 UTC(2000-2030 IST) on 1548,9655,13840 kHz (All via Trincomale), 15595 kHz(Krasnodar)

Listeners Meet of DW Radio Hindi service in India in October 2008 & other news

DW Radio-Hindi is going to organise a Listeners Meet in India in October 2008. But the exact date & place of the meeting has not been yet decided.The listeners will be informed about it as soon as it has been decided.
New Presenter in DW Radio Hindi : A new presenter, Ms Ritika Rai has joined DW Radio-Hindi for two months perhaps.She worked as News Presenter & Producer etc in Doordarshan before joining DW Radio-Hindi.She gave her introduction in last sunday's Aap Ki Bari Aap Ki Baat , the mailbag programme of DW Radio-Hindi.
DW Radio-Hindi Website Give Away : I understand DW Radio-Hindi is also giving away exciting prizes each day for those who visits their website.There will be some prize info etc hidden on a page or pages of website. One can win those/this each day by finding the place & then send the necessary info perhaps to DW Radio.
