Special Ramadan broadcast by Akashvani stations

Like every year, the special transmissions for Ramadan has started from Akashvani stations in Jammu & Kashmir as follows:

Timings (variable) : 4.20 am to 5.25 am (2250 to 2355 hrs UTC)

Frequencies :

1116 kHz 300 kW  - Akashvani Srinagar
1350 kHz 20 kW - Akashvani Kupwara
103.5 MHz 10 kW - Akashvani Srinagar

This transmission is for about 1 hour and sign on and sign off timings vary. It will continue for one month, till Ramzan day ie around 9th April 2024.
After the above program the Srinagar station signs off and comes back on air for their regular broadcasts starting from 6.48 am.
It is a good time to catch the station from long distances

AIR FM radio station launched in Narkatiaganj, West Champaran Dist., Bihar (102.9 MHz 10 kW)

The people of Bihar settled on the Indo-Nepal border area will now be able to listen to FM radio and through this they will also be acquainted about the country and the world. The people of Nepal including Narkatiaganj located on the Indo-Nepal border will be able to enjoy their FM. 

The FM channel was inaugurated at the headquarters of Narkatiaganj SSB 44th Battalion on 31st August '21. 

People can also enjoy Vividh Bharati & they will be able to listen to news and entertainment programs through this FM station. This FM channel will be available on 102.9 megahertz.

It was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar Dhyani, Deputy Inspector General, Regional Headquarters Sashastra Seema Bal Bettiah and Anil Kumar Singh II Commanding Officer, Acting Commandant 44 Vahini Sashastra Seema Bal. Keshav Mukherjee, Assistant Director, All India Radio Patna said that now people will be able to enjoy FM channel in 25 km radius. After a few days people will enjoy it even in 70 km radius. The main purpose of opening FM channel in Narkatiaganj is to entertain the people of India-Nepal border.

On this occasion, officers and jawans of SSB 44th Battalion including Assistant Director RK Mishra, Keshav Mukherjee, Istiaq Ahmed, Shambhu Rai, Inderjit Bhattacharya were present. The people of both Bihar and Nepal are very excited with the opening of FM radio channel.

Updated AIR Bangalore SW DRM schedule



All India Radio, Bangalore which has re-commissioned its 500 KW DRM SW transmitter with effect from 3rd August, 2018 started limited DRM transmissions has now expanded its SW DRM schedule with effect from 28th Aug, 2018.

Reception of AIR Chennai in DRM mode


Vincent Amritraj from Manapparai in Tiruchirappalli district, Tamil Nadu shared his screenshot of DRM reception of AIR Chennai MW transmission on 783 kHz. He is located at around 360 kms from the transmitter and getting excellent signal.

All India Radio, Kolkata launches new website


All India Radio, Kolkata has launched a comprehensive multimedia website, the content consists of rich bouquet of rare photo's, archives, program schedule, station info & information on commercial broadcasting.

The website has a blend of text, pictures, video and audio components, also features live streaming of All India Radio Kolkata's radio programmes. It also has a segment of "Live Radio".

Jawhar Sircar, CEO, Prasar Bharti inaugurated the new website on 10th June,2016.
