RNE's Radio Exterior de España launches Mandarin Chinese program for the first time

RNE's Radio Exterior de España launches a new season, taking our country to the five continents.

- For the first time in its history, it will broadcast a program in Mandarin Chinese.

- New releases in movies, sports, parties, music, and geopolitics, as well as iconic programs like "Spaniards at Sea," "Hora América," "A Language Without Borders," and "Marca España."

Radio Exterior de España reinforces its commitment to being the voice of our country on five continents. It's taking on a challenge through a new programming program that combines what it has learned in recent decades through iconic programs such as "Españoles en la mar" (Spaniards at Sea) , "Hora América" (A Time in America) , "Un idioma sin fronteras" (A Language Without Borders) , and "Marca España" (Brand Spain) , with a commitment to new formats.

'China Connection'

For the first time, Radio Exterior will broadcast a program in Mandarin Chinese, adding another language to its broadcasts in English, French, Russian, Portuguese, Arabic, and Sephardic . Aware of China's importance in current geopolitics, REE is taking on this challenge. This weekly program, hosted by Song Zhang, a graduate in Hispanic Philology from Peking University, will air on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and Mondays at 12:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Spanish time.

'Spain in History'

Eduardo Juárez Valero, professor of history at the Carlos III University of Madrid, leads this new program with the difficult task of revealing the historical truth of a civilization like the one that led Spain. This objective is necessary to understand the present and face the future by fostering the critical spirit of listeners. It airs weekly on Saturdays at 4:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and on Mondays at 12:05 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Spanish mainland time.

'The Fans'

This is the new sports program, led by the all-rounder Fernando Orea. A double date: Fridays to warm up for the weekend's competitions and Mondays to analyze the results, both days at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Spanish time.

A journey through the festivals that define our culture. Fernando Orea hosts this new weekly format alongside Alexey Ershov, who will offer a foreign perspective, immersing you in the San Fermin Festival, the Tomatina Festival, the April Fair, Carnival, and any other town's festivals. Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and also airing on Fridays and Saturdays.

'101 Spanish figures'

David Zurdo and Jota Pelirrojo rescue famous figures from history thanks to artificial intelligence. Without sacrificing historical accuracy, we'll hear, in their own voices, figures such as Queen Joanna, Christopher Columbus, Cervantes, Philip II, and Santiago Ramón y Cajal. The broadcast will air on Saturdays at 6:30 a.m., Sundays at 3:30 p.m., and Thursdays at 3:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Spanish time.

'Open Europe'

The program changes hosts: Carlos Navarro and Lola Martínez pass the baton to Ana Añó and Diego Tábara. A daily program from Monday to Friday at 4:00 PM and Tuesday to Saturday at 3:30 AM Spanish time, addresses the most pressing issues of Europe's present and future.

'Global Board'

Each week, Marta Solano will offer the keys to understanding a world in constant transformation. The best analysis of international news will help you understand how the pieces are moving on the global stage, while keeping an eye on Spain's interests and vision. Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 12:30 a.m. Spanish time.

'7 Days'

María Dillon and Tomás O'Reilly will offer a recap of the week's top news stories and tips for staying up-to-date and well-informed. Fridays at 3:30 PM and Saturdays at midnight, Spanish time.

'Green Iberia'

A weekly tour throughout Spain, one of the countries with the greatest biodiversity in the world. Led by Ángel Varela Pena, we'll discover UNESCO biosphere reserves, geoparks, and national and natural parks. The tours will take place on Saturdays at 4:00 a.m., Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Mondays at 3:00 a.m., Spanish time.

'Spain is Music' and 'Classics of Spanish Cinema'

Radio Exterior of Spain expands its broadcasts on Short Wave

Radio Exterior of Spain, the international channel of RNE,   It will broadcast eight hours a day from Monday to Sunday on Short Wave starting on October 28th . It supposes an increase of four hours in the transmission that was previously made from Monday to Friday.

With this increase, Radio Exterior of Spain begins a new stage that reinforces its programming with new spaces of its own production that will enhance the task of public service and promote and disseminate the culture and the Spanish language, in short, it contributes to place Spain in the global horizon of the time in which we live.

From a technical point of view, Radio Exterior de España will broadcast its programming from Monday to Friday, for West Africa and the South Atlantic, the Middle East, the Indian Ocean and Gran Sol, from 4 pm to 24 hours UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), say, from 17 to 01 official Spanish time.

The emission frequencies:

- West Africa and South Atlantic, 11,685 Khz., Band 25 meters .

- Middle East, Indian Ocean and Gran Sol, 12,030 Khz, 25 meter band .

Towards North and South America, Radio Exterior de España will broadcast short-wave, from Monday to Friday, from 19:00 to 03:00 UTC, that is, from 20:00 to 04:00, the official Spanish time.

The emission frequencies:

- South America, 11,940 Khz, band of 25 meters .

- North America and Greenland, 9,690 Khz, 31 meter band .

On Saturdays and Sundays, the RNE International Channel will transmit its signal from 15 to 23 hours UTC, that is, from 16 to 24 official Spanish hours. The emission frequencies and the coverage areas are the following:

- West Africa and South Atlantic, 11,685 Khz, band of 25 meters.

- South America, 11,940 Khz, band of 11,940 meters.

- North America and Greenland, 9,690 Khz, 31-meter band.

- Middle East, Indian Ocean and Gran Sol, 12,030 Khz, 25 meter band.

In addition to eight hours per day of shortwave transmission, Radio Exterior de España broadcasts its 24-hour uninterrupted programming through the Internet, DTT, mobile applications and satellite:

- Ses Astras 1M: frequency 11.626.5 MHz. Vertical polarization.

- Hispasat 1E: frequency 12,052 Mhz. Vertical polarization.

- Asiasat 5: frequency 3,700 Mhz. Vertical polarization.

REE deja de emitir en onda corta para Europa y América del Norte.

Tras dejar de escuchar algunas emisiones de REE, se confirma que desde ayer lunes 26 de noviembre, REE (Radio Exterior de España) ha dejado de emitir en onda corta para Europa y América del norte, desde Noblejas y Cariari, solo quedan las emisiones en DRM. Para el resto de emisiones en onda corta se ha bajado la potencia de transmisión. Ha sido una sorpresa para todos.

After stop listening some REE emissions confirms that from Monday 26 November, REE (Radio Exterior de Espana) has stopped broadcasting on shortwave to Europe and North America, from Noblejas and Cariari, emissions are only DRM.
