Did the Internet kill the radio?

Radio made its debut in cars in 1930, but automakers may soon be phasing the iconic feature out of newer models. According to Detroit News, the radio may soon be replaced by radio stations streamed through cellphones or web-based dashboards. Detroit Electric, which will debut its first model in August, is the first automaker to yank the feature from its cars.

Radio goes online

It's perfect for the discerning listener , the kind who simply won't settle for the "hits" being played on the radio. Internet radio is the perfect platform for the independent musician and indie music lover. It's a bit reminiscent of the old days of radio where one could discover music.

Sony brings the world's radio into your room

FM stations in particular have moved beyond such primitiveness, but it is on the Internet that radio has made its greatest strides. A 'Traditional' Radio for the Internet Age

The days of families gathering around the radio to hear the evening's news and entertainment are long gone. While some 236 million Americans still listen to the radio weekly, more than four out of 10 people say they listen to less traditional radio because of increased use of MP3 players. And nearly one in three Americans now listens to online radio, according to a recent survey by the Pew Project for Excellence in Journalism.
