PM Modi to inaugurate 91 FM transmitters on April 28 to boost radio connectivity in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 91 FM transmitters tomorrow to boost radio connectivity in the country. The FM transmitters of 100 Watts will be inaugurated through video conferencing. These transmitters have been installed in 84 districts across 18 States and two Union Territories. A special focus of the expansion has been on enhancing coverage in aspirational districts and in border areas. The States and Union Territories which are covered include Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Ladakh. With this expansion of All India Radio's FM service, an additional 2 crore people, who did not have access to the medium, will now be covered. It will result in expansion of coverage in about 35 thousand sq km area.

The government has been committed to enhance FM connectivity in the country. The Prime Minister has been a firm believer in the important role which radio plays in reaching out to the masses. Mr. Modi started Mann ki Baat programme, which is now nearing its landmark 100th episode to harness the unique strength of the medium to reach out to the widest possible audience.

Fifty-six AIR FM transmitters to be upgraded in 12th Plan

NEW DELHI: With All India Radio putting all its important channels on FM to make them more accessible, a total of fifty-six FM transmitters are to be upgraded to ensure better reception covering a larger area.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore has told Parliament that the upgradation of these transmitters has been approved under the Twelfth Plan.

Nautel to Provide 30 FM Transmitters to Turkey

January 17, 2017 – Nautel Limited has announced that it will supply thirty 5 kW NVLT FM transmitters to Turkish Radio-Television Corporation (TRT) over the coming months, with an option to purchase 9 additional transmitters if needed. The transmitters will be deployed at key locations throughout Turkey.

Based in Ankara, TRT provides one local, five regional and four national radio services as well as 6 AM Radio broadcasts. Additionally, Voice of Turkey provides shortwave programming in 32 languages. TRT radio is available on internet, satellite and cable as well as terrestrial services.

The Nautel NVLT transmitters incorporate the company's field-proven, high-power architecture into a compact footprint. With 72% typical efficiency, NVLT transmitters incorporate Nautel's award winning Advanced User Interface (AUI) as well as a suite of operational features including onboard direct-to-channel digital exciter, IP and streaming audio input ability, advanced scheduling capabilities, instrument-grade spectrum analyzer, optional onboard Orban processing and more..

"Turkey's radio infrastructure is already one of the best in the world, and we selected Nautel for this project because they have the tools we need to further enhance our broadcast capabilities," said Yuksel Solyu, Procurement Manager at TRT. "The ease of remote management via the Nautel AUI, which will be done from our headquarters in Ankara, coupled with the transmitters' high efficiency and reputation for reliability, will help TRT keep operating costs at a minimum while providing the coverage we desire."

Nautel has worked closely with TRT over the years on Turkey's Radio broadcast infrastructure. In 2009, Nautel was awarded a tender for 133 FM transmitters ranging from 1 kW to 20 kW. Nautel also supplied three 300kW MW transmitters to TRT in 2008-2009. The 136 digital-capable transmitters were used to modernize a large portion of Turkey's national FM Radio infrastructure.

10 KW Vividh Bharati FM and 6 KW FM (Rainbow) transmitters of AIR Cuttack on air

10 kW Vividh Bharati FM Service Operating on 100.4 MHz and 6 kW FM (Rainbow) Service Operating on 101.3 MHz of AIR, Cuttack were commissioned at 11.30 AM on 14th July 2015 at New FM Building, HPTV Campus, Tulsipur, Cuttack as a replacement of 1 kW MW Vividh Bharati Service and 2×3 kW FM (Rainbow) Service respectively.

Both the Services were commissioned by Shri A.R.Sheikh, ADG(E)(EZ), AIR and DD, Kolkata.

Bangladesh Betar to modernise/expand its FM services

Here's what Director General of Bangladesh Betar, Kazi Akhtar Uddin Ahmed said while responding to reporter's queries at a cultural program organised by Radio Colony Model School, Savar, Dhaka on 26th Jan 2013 :

- At present Bangladesh Betar has 13 FM transmitters of 1, 2 & 5 kW

- By next month 12 FM transmitters of 10 kW (BE FM 10S 10 kW solid-state) will be started/replaced at different places.

- During next 2 months 6 more FM transmitters of 10 kW will be on air.

- Bangladesh Betar transmissions will be gradually converted from analog to digital in the coming years.

Objectives of the project:

- To establish countrywide FM Broadcasting Network throughout the whole country for high quality and noise free reception on cheap radio receivers satisfying the listener's needs.

- In order to transmit attractive and harmonious program to the remote corner of Bangladesh

- In order to motivate and inspire mass people to take part in present day nation building activities, such as Poverty alleviation/ Poverty reduction, Population Control, Farm Broadcast, adult Education, Promotion of Cultural Heritage and other development activities.

- With the advancement of modern technology, FM becomes increasingly popular because of high quality, less cost and easy in handing.

- Using modern digital studio equipment and proposed FM network. Bangladesh Betar will be able to radiate noise interference free, clear high fidelity, CD quality program, thereby satisfying the audience needs.
