AIR Dibrugarh celebrates Golden Jubilee

All India Radio Dibrugarh, during the yearlong celebration of its golden jubilee this year, is broadcasting programmes on a particular subject as the theme for each month starting from March last.

All India Radio Itanagar goes digital

All India Radio (AIR) Itanagar is all set to begin a new innings with completely digitalized version, likely from this week with Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) technology.

The coverage area would also be wider as the station has installed 200 kW capacity replacing its earlier 100 kW analogue system facilitating more people to listen to radio programmes broadcast from AIR, Itanagar including state's border areas.

AIR Pasighat in East Siang district would also begin to function on this technology within a week with 100 kW capacity. AIR, Dibrugarh in Assam is already functioning smoothly on DRM technology with 300 kW capacity. At present all total 27 All India Radio stations have installed DRM technology across the country.

All India Radio Dibrugarh turns 40

All India Radio Dibrugarh celebrated its 40th anniversary on February 15, 2009. This Medium Wave Station had gone on air on February 15,1967. At that time it was in Lepetkota, which is 15 kms away in western side of Dibrugarh town. In 1975, its studio was shifted to its present location at Molokhubosa in Dibrugarh. AIR Dibrugarh broadcasts on 567 kHz. A special documentary "MOI AKHASBANI" i.e. "I'm ALL INDIA RADIO" was aired by AIR- Dibrugarh to mark this occasion from 1400UTC i.e. 7.30PM IST on February 15,2009.
