Tony Currie of Radio Six International passes away
Tony Currie, who, for the last 63 years has owned and operated Radio Six International sadly passed away on the 26th of September at his home on the Isle of Lismore. His family are very grateful to the support they have received from his many friends and colleagues in the broadcasting industry and beyond. Radio Six International will continue but for the present with a slightly reduced service.
The RANDOM PLAY playlist will not be refreshed regularly in the forseeable future. THE LIVELY LOUNGE has come to the end of its run, although there may be some repeats in September. MIDNIGHT RENDEZVOUS will continue but with a variety of presenters and occasionally a repeated programme. This week John Cavanagh will be at the helm.
Our programme guide RADIO NEWS published since 1967 will cease publication immediately. Programme schedules will vary from day to day but details will be given wherever possible on the Schedules page. Our sincere apologies for these unavoidable changes.

About DRM
Digital Radio Mondiale™ (DRM) is the universal, openly standardised digital radio system for all broadcasting frequencies and coverage needs.
DRM on short, medium and long wave up to 30 MHz provides for efficient coverage in large areas with at least FM quality, while significantly reducing power consumption. DRM in the FM & VHF bands above 30 MHz enables flexible local and regional broadcaster-controlled services, with up to 3 stereo audio programmes plus multimedia components in half the bandwidth of a single analogue FM signal.
ITU recognised the DRM Consortium for its outstanding contribution to the Telecommunications sector over the past year. The DRM Consortium has signed the EBU Smart Radio Memorandum that promotes access to free to air radio on all devices.
For more information and DRM updates please visit www.drm.org or subscribe to DRM news by writing to pressoffice@drm.org.
