It was a frigid night in January 1903 when a faint signal skipped across the ionosphere from Wellfleet, Massachusetts to the shores of England. Marconi’s “spark-gap” transmitter sent a message. On the other side of the Atlantic, England’s King Edward VII received that 54-word message from President Theodore Roosevelt, and history was made. A couple weeks ago, President Barack Obama presented the Queen of England with…an iPod. An absurd comparison of two unrelated events? ........
