RADIO DARC special coverage of WRTC 2018

RADIO DARC special coverage of WRTC 2018

On the occasion of WRTC 2018 RADIO DARC will broadcast two special programs:

Saturday, July 14th 2018 from 11:00 to 12:00 a.m. UTC in English on
6070 kHz for Europe and Western Asia with 300 kW output power
13860 kHz for North America with 300 kW output power

Sunday, July 15th 2018 from 09:00 to 10:00 a.m. UTC in German on
6070 kHz for Europe with 100 kW output power

With 300kW from Wittenberg via Vienna to North America

Broadcasts are in AM on frequencies in the 49 and 22 Meter shortwave broadcast bands

The broadcast on 13860 kHz/300 kW is especially directed to the many people interested in WRTC who are located in North America. This frequency has been chosen because it is just 140 kHz below the 20 meter amateur band. The 6-hour time difference makes it possible for the show to serve as a "breakfast radio" with WRTC News on the East Coast of North America.

A high level of interest is expected from there as not only a total of 14 teams from North America did qualify but also the defending champions Daniel Craig (N6MJ) and Chris Hurlbut (KL9A) are coming from the
USA.

A day later, on Sunday the 15th, the second broadcast will start at 09:00 a.m. UTC. Both magazines, which can be received all over Europe including the Witenberg and Jessen area where WRTC 2018 takes place, will include reports from HAM journalists being on site at the WRTC 2018 venue area.

• We will present what the World Radio Team Championship is all about and how it works.
• Behind the scenes reports will cover the qualifying process, the competitors and their fouryear
preparation as well as the efforts of all the volunteers in this mammoth project.
• The contest rules and award programs will be explained.
• Some tips will be given on technology used to make those DX contacts and how to best
support WRTC participants in their quest to become WRTC champion.
• Last but not least The all important radio propagation report will complete the program.

The rented transmitters with an output of 300 kW are able to reach listeners in many parts of the world. They are located near Vienna, Austria.

The RADIO DARC program regularly airs on Sundays at 09:00 a.m. UTC on 6070 kHz and covers current news in amateur radio and short wave, equipment reports, technology tips and interviews along with a bit of varied music.

After the discontinuation of Deutsche Welle, VOA and other former SW stations, the weekly broadcast of RADIO DARC is unique in its magazine format worldwide.

Feel free to forwarding this message your home countries´ society and radio amateurs worldwide. Publishing on websites or email distribution lists is very much appreciated.
